Eco-Friendly Trees in Our Cottages
14 December 2023

With Christmas almost upon us, it's time to start decorating our cottages, and that includes sourcing the Christmas trees for some of the properties. This year, we've partnered with Lake District Eco Christmas Trees to provide our guests with an eco-friendly option, part of our ongoing pledge to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Pot-grown trees

Unlike traditional Christmas trees, which are felled from forests and often discarded after the festive season, these eco-friendly trees are pot-grown, ensuring their long-term sustainability. The trees are sourced from Lake District Eco Christmas Trees, a family-run business dedicated to providing sustainable Christmas trees.

Once Christmas is over, we return the Christmas trees where they will absorb the atmosphere's CO2, release oxygen and continue growing. And next Christmas, who knows, it may be the same Christmas tree back in the cottages. Once they are too big to be used for decorative purposes, the trees are planted out in the woods, rather than ending up in landfill.

All we ask is that you care for the tree when you're staying in the cottage. To continue to flourish, the tree simply needs one pint of water each day.

This dedication to nature-friendly practices ensures that our cottages are filled with Christmas cheer without compromising the environment.
