From 9 February 2024 Low Cleabarrow will become our third pet-friendly cottage accepting one well-behaved dog.

Appointed to a high standard the accommodation comprises farmhouse kitchen with large dining table, electric range cooker, American style fridge/ freezer, microwave and dishwasher. This space is made cosy with a log burning stove and corner seating area. French doors give access to the terrace and large garden. From the kitchen, a corridor reveals the spacious sitting room. Behind original wooden panels lies a comfortable room overlooking the garden with deep window seats and a log burning stove. A welcome basket of logs is provided with additional wood free to use in the garage. Wall mounted TV and Bluetooth entertainment system with CD player are also available. The original porch with stone seats leads to the front garden planted with fruit trees and giving access to the rear garden. 

There are four bedrooms in total. An excellently appointed bedroom with king bed, ensuite and separate WC is situated on the ground floor. There is a further kingsize bedroom with ensuite and two single bedrooms upstairs. A family bathroom with shower over bath, basin, WC and heated towel rail completes the first floor. Cots and highchairs are available on request.

Bowness-on-Windermere is just under two miles by car and the Dales Way footpath passes close to the front door connecting to a wide network of public footpaths and country lanes. Windermere Golf Club is within walking distance and there are many country pubs and fine dining restaurants in the locality.

Low Cleabarrow sleeps six. Accessed by private road from the B5284 Crook Road, it is two miles from Bowness on Windermere. 

PLEASE NOTE THAT LOW CLEABARROW IS A TRADITIONAL FARMHOUSE WITH LOW BEAMS, UNEVEN FLOORS AND CHANGES IN FLOOR LEVEL. THERE ARE TWO WOOD BURNING STOVES AT THIS PROPERTY. 

This property is not suitable for guests who require a wheelchair or for those who have restricted mobility. Young children and elderly guests should take extra care and be suitably supervised.

  • There is no landline at this proper, but mobile reception is reasonable on most networks.
Arrival
Check-in is from 4pm on the day of your arrival.

On booking, you will be sent our Touchstay guidebook which can be received via text message or email. We encourage you to read this carefully. The guidebook can be downloaded onto your phone for access prior to and throughout your stay. It contains a wealth of information including directions to the property, wifi codes, important contact numbers, places to eat or visit during your stay and other tips from how to light the woodburning stoves to information about the nearest medical centre, local transport and local supermarkets.

Access to your accommodation is by key which is stored in a keysafe lockbox outside the door of your holiday cottage. Please call our housekeepers on 01539 729602 at least two days before your stay to get the unique code to your accommodation keysafe. The housekeeper will also check details about your stay and ensure everything is ready for your arrival.

Departure
We ask that you vacate your holiday cottage by 10am on the day of departure.

Please check you have all your belongings. If you leave an item behind please call us on 01539 445756 and we will endeavour to find it. If the item can be returned, we will do this but there may be a charge for post and packing.

Please leave the key in the keysafe lock box and ensure that the property is secure before your departure. Please check all windows are closed paying particular attention to any rooflights or velux windows. We wish you a safe journey home and hope to see you again at a Matson Ground Holiday Cottage.
