Green Man Survival - Essential Bushcraft

Green Man Survival - Essential Bushcraft

Our latest tailormade activity will enable you to learn the arts of bushcraft and survival, courtesy of Green Man Survival.

This is a fantastic day (or half day) deep in the Lake District National Park learning to make the most of your surroundings.

From tracking to shelter building, firelighting to foraging, you'll pick up the key things you need to know to survive in the wild. As Green Man Survival says; When no one is coming to rescue you, prepare to self-rescue. Green Man Survival offers a huge choice of experiences, catering for all levels of physical ability, in a range of environments. You will learn things which have been developed and honed at the sharp end of leading in wilderness environments, places such as the jungles of South America and the frozen forests of Sweden. A few of our favourites include:

The Woodland Wanderer - a guided woodland walk, learning some bushcraft essentials along the way. You'll learn about the woodland environment, tracking, plant identification and wildlife observation. And you'll collect kindling and tinder so we can get the kettle boiling for a well-earned drink (and maybe some toasted marshmallows).

The Tracker - an opportunity to observe and let the woods reveal their secrets, showing you the journeys of their native species. You'll learn how to identify game trails, understand habitat, measure gait to give you an idea of size, and get to grips with essential stalking techniques. You'll never see the woods in the same light again.

The Mountains - your chance to spend a day with an experienced and qualified instructor learning the essentials to be able to survive in this remote and challenging habitat. You'll learn navigation and basic compass work, water sourcing and purification, signalling, foraging and tree identification.

The Flame - exactly as it suggests, The Flame is all about mastering how to make fire. This will include finding a selection of materials (kindling, tinder and fuel), mastery of friction fire lighting, ember management, fire management and the principles of leave no trace.

About Green Man Survival

Lead Instructor and Founder, James Dixon, has a passion for wild places, it's where he feels most at home. And he wants to share his passion. He likes nothing more than to develop people's confidence in their own ability, at the same time educating them on the importance of the natural world. This is an experience like no other. You'll be guided by someone who has led expeditions in the jungles of Borneo, the deserts of Morrocco and Oman and the frozen forests of Sweden. In short, you're in safe hands, no matter what the location or conditions.
