Every September, the Soil Association’s Organic September campaign shines a light on organic food and farming, encouraging us to discover the difference that organic can make – to nature, wildlife, animal welfare, our soils and the food we eat. We’re excited to share the next step in Matson Ground’s story: a planning application has been submitted to give some of our redundant farm buildings at Home Farm a new lease of life, supporting the future of farming while creating new opportunities for local businesses, employment and the wider community. At this stage, no decision has been made. The application will now go through the Lake District National Park Authority’s normal planning process, which includes consultation with local residents, statutory consultees and other stakeholders before any decision is reached. The Tour de France is one of the world’s most famous sporting events, and in 2027 it’s coming to the UK. Even better, it will pass right through the heart of the Lake District. On Saturday 3 July 2027, Stage Two sets off from Keswick before heading through some of the region’s most beautiful scenery on its way to Liverpool. It’s set to be an exciting day, with a fantastic atmosphere across the Lake District and plenty for visitors to enjoy. The World’s Greatest Cycling Race If you’ve never stood on the roadside for the Tour de France, it’s hard to explain the buzz until you’ve felt it. Hours before a single rider appears, the roads start to fill and there’s a buzz of anticipation. As April draws to a close in the Lake District, something subtle but magical happens. The air softens, the fells warm up and the evenings stretch out just long enough to tempt you into staying outdoors a little later.
